Position Summary:
Job Summary
The Coach Intern reports to the Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse. The successful candidate will be responsible to assist the head coach in all aspects of the program, including: recruit qualified student-athletes; assist in practice sessions and in-game duties; counsel student-athletes in a positive manner; and adhere to all NCAA, conference and university rules and regulations. Coach Intern positions are typically 1 year appointments renewable up to a maximum 3 years total.
Specific Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include the direct leadership, and development
of the women's lacrosse team.
- Assist in game day management
- Identify and recruit qualified prospective
student-athletes
- Assist with designing pre-season, in-season and off-season
training schedules
- Maintain working knowledge of NCAA, Landmark Conference, and
Susquehanna University policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Director of
Athletics
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Deep understanding of and passion for the game of lacrosse; Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build strong collaborative relationships. Requires ability to multi-task and attend to detail. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with current students and parents, prospective students and parents, and staff and faculty in a professional manner. Ability to use technology and equipment specific to the sport.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree required
Additional Requirements
This position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle. CPR, AED and First Aid certification is preferred.
Physical Demand
Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction ability to frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. Position requires lifting, pulling, pushing: Requires travel. Work is indoors and outdoors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience
Playing or coaching experience on a collegiate level preferred.
