Journeyman Electrician

Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Electrical Supervisor, the incumbent performs journey-level maintenance, installation and repair of electrical and electronic systems; including components and equipment required for properly functioning electrical, lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing and safety systems and other specialized equipment.
This is an essential position that will be called upon in the event of an emergency and/or University Closure.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience working with: HVAC, safety, security and entry control systems; and recognized codes and requirements for fire detection and suppression such as NFPA, UBC, UL and UFC.
- Experience utilizing national electrical code and electrical safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to operate a boom truck, line truck and forklift.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move items weighing approximately 50 pounds, climb ladders, bend, stoop, and work in awkward positions for several hours at a time.
- Crawl through small tunnels that are hot, muddy, and wet.
- Some positions may require working in confined spaces which necessitates participation in a medical surveillance program and respirator fit test.
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
- Must possess a Journeyman Electrician’s license in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 10; or able to acquire within 12 months of hire.
- Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and be able to meet policy requirements for driving University vehicles.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Responding to emergency calls in a reasonable time and serve on
weekend callout duty on a regular rotation.
