This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking, top 20 nationally ranked school of pharmacy, and capitalize on its extensive strengths in order to advance, grow and innovate into the future. With renowned faculty and staff, extensive research, outstanding centers and cores, new programs on the horizon and curriculum modernizations underway, VCU School of Pharmacy is leading the future of pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences education, research and scholarship.

As chief academic and administrative officer at the School of Pharmacy, the Dean will collaboratively set the vision and strategic plan for the school. Among the responsibilities of the Dean will be to elevate the School’s distinguished research, clinical and educational enterprise; recruit, hire, develop and retain an exceptionally diverse, intellectually stimulating and inclusive faculty and staff; cultivate and strengthen relationships with key decision makers throughout the state; serve as a prominent voice and advocate for the School; and maintain its financial stability. The Dean is expected to demonstrate forward thinking and strategic use of resources, and represent the School within the University and the Health System, as well as externally.

The incoming Dean will hold a doctoral degree in pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a related field, and be eligible for appointment as a full professor. Candidates should have demonstrated scholarly achievement of national recognition and have a broad understanding of complex issues of contemporary pharmacy practice, with a bold vision for where pharmacy practice, research and education are headed.
