Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Reporting to the Chief Diversity Officer, the Manager, Campus Diversity resides at and supports the LSC-College campus. The purpose of the Manager, Campus Diversity is to ensure the campus’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts align with One LSC and that the campus is progressively addressing the needs of LSC’s diverse student, faculty, and staff community. This individual will work with campus leadership to shape and foster a culture to achieve the vision, mission, and goals of LSC by supporting DEI recruitment, professional development & training, and student success. In collaboration with the Chief Diversity Officer, the Manager, Campus Diversity will manage an outcome-driven DEI action plan that supports the LSC system-wide strategy .

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Campus Focus:

  1. Contribute to strategic planning initiatives outlined in the system-wide DEI Strategic Plan
  2. Coordinate with Equity, Analytics and Reporting to provide President and Leadership with campus student and employee demographic data for President’s and other college leaders
  3. Serve as an Search Committee Advocate on Search Committees to mitigate unconscious bias
  4. Coordinate training for faculty and staff focusing on the creation of an inclusive environment
  5. Serve as a standing member of the campus’ DEI Committee
  6. Represent the campus in the community and relevant external constituencies, including student and employee recruitment events


Student Focus:

  1. Support strategies that help underrepresented students throughout their lifecycle in the College. This includes strategies for pathway/pipeline programs, recruitment of prospective students, orientation, experiential learning, and identify mentorship and career opportunities.
  2. Work in tandem with student services in outreach efforts to recruit students in economically/underrepresented areas.
  3. Design, plan and implement cultural, historical, and other DEI educational programs and activities for students that provide social and personal enrichment activities aligned with the goals and objects of the DEI office. Activities include but are not limited to workshops, recreational activities, networking opportunities, professional development opportunities, etc.
  4. In partnership with student leaders, build upon and institutionalize student-led equity initiatives that enhance student climate and connect student leaders across degree programs
  5. Serve as a resource for students within the College to voice their experiences and lend support to address any concerns.
  6. Advise faculty and staff on strategies to enhance students’ experiences related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the College

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related work experience
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations that are tied to learning outcomes and academically based theoretical or conceptual frameworks
  • Candidates with some experience in one or more of the following areas, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, Social Justice, Title IX, Accessibility, or working with marginalized and underrepresented populations are desired
Salary

Hiring salary range is $56,370-$64,826

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
