Basic Qualifications
Three or more years of administrative experience with demonstrated executive and administrative support skills. Education beyond high school may count toward experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
B.A. preferred. Computer skills required, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the Internet. Candidate must be well organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate professionally with diverse constituency, including senior faculty and administrators. Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks, handle shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Ability to handle confidential material required, accompanied by an ease and eagerness to take initiative and to be well-informed. Must be flexible and work comfortably within deadlines. Previous experience working in an academic environment preferred. Knowledge of Harvard University financial systems and Oracle financial software preferred and comfort with learning new software applications required.

Position Description
Reporting to the events manager, serves as the key administrator of two Weatherhead Center research clusters: the Weatherhead Research Cluster on Comparative Inequality (25%,) and the Weatherhead Research Cluster on the Intersection of Autonomy, Security, Mental Health, and Human Rights (25%.)
As Project Coordinator, helps bring together key faculty, visitors, and students from within and outside of Harvard to collaboratively focus on an international, transnational, global, or other comparative social science theme for 3 years. Working directly with the faculty directors and faculty committees, the project coordinator helps to develop the clusters’ identity and defines effective programmatic activities. Together with a graduate student coordinator, manages a variety of formal and informal events including conferences, seminars, and colloquia to foster the development of a community of scholars of each cluster’s thematic focus. Books space, places catering orders, publicizes events, and manages event registration. Develops and maintains the clusters’ web presence, maintains cluster inboxes, and disseminates written materials, especially the descriptions of the mission statement and the research interests of all the scholars who are affiliated with each cluster. Coordinates grant competition for undergraduate, graduate student, and faculty awards. Prepares financial reports using on-line financial systems; manages and monitors budgets including grants; and maintains financial documentation. Makes travel arrangements for program directors. Some evening and weekend work required. Performs other duties as required.
