Job Summary

The Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences (PTRS) at Drexel University invites applications for a core DPT program faculty position at the rank of clinical assistant professor, clinical associate professor, or clinical professor (non-tenure track). Content expertise of specific interest includes acute care, neurorehabilitation, geriatrics, sensorimotor control, population health, and health policy, but applications are welcome from high-quality applicants from all physical therapy specialty areas. Protected time will be given for work on the candidate’s scholarly agenda, which is a requirement. Clinical practice opportunities exist. This new faculty member will join us at an exciting time. In August 2022, we move to the newly constructed Health Sciences Building on Drexel’s main campus in University City, Philadelphia. The Health Sciences Building is a state-of-the-art facility designed for health education and research that will house our college’s many departments (https://drexel.edu/cnhp/academics/departments/), the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences & Professional Studies, and the College of Medicine. Our new PTRS facilities are among the best in the nation and position Drexel as a leading destination for learners, clinicians, researchers, and industry partners. In addition to Drexel University, the University City section of Philadelphia is home to the University of Pennsylvania, the Hospitals of the University of Pennsylvania-Penn Presbyterian hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. University City is a regional hub for innovation and development in technology and the life sciences. It’s a vibrant part of the city with a growing number of restaurants, businesses, and wellness spaces.

Essential Functions

The Department of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences (PTRS) at Drexel University invites applications for a core DPT program faculty position at the rank of clinical assistant professor, clinical associate professor, or clinical professor (non-tenure track). Content expertise of specific interest includes acute care, neurorehabilitation, geriatrics, sensorimotor control, population health, and health policy.

Required Qualifications
  • PhD or Doctorate in Physical Therapy, Health Sciences, or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in physical therapy clinical practice
  • Commitment to excellence in physical therapy teaching and education
  • An evidence-based focus and growth mindset
  • Strong communication skills
  • Evidence of productivity working with teams of people
  • Alignment with the mission and direction of the PTRS department
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and health equity
  • Pennsylvania physical therapy licensure or eligibility
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in physical therapy including clinical education
  • Post-professional degree or interest in obtaining one (i.e., PhD, EdD, DHSc, DSc, ScD)
  • Expertise that complements our faculty and others in the College of Nursing & Health Professions and Drexel University
  • Identifies as a member of an underrepresented population in the field of physical therapy
  • Board certification in a physical therapy specialty
  • Actively engaged or interest in becoming engaged in the APTA and its academies.
