RESEARCH FACULTY POSITION

 

 

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks doctoral-level scientist (MD, PhD, or DrPH) for faculty positions. Applicants with emerging or established research agendas in health services and outcomes research focused on health disparities, chronic diseases, or physical activity, including perspectives on clinical outcomes, digital health, or health behaviors/promotion will be considered.

 

The successful applicant will join a vibrant and diverse research environment and will benefit from career mentoring programs, collaborations, and pilot funding across campus, including the Centre for Clinical and Translational Science, Center for Outcomes and Effectives Research and Education, Center for Exercise Medicine, the Nutrition Obesity Research Center, Diabetes Research Center, and Deep South Center to Reduce Disparities in Chronic Diseases.

 

Applicants must hold PhD, DrPH and/or MD and have a demonstrated record of scholarly activity that compliments existing expertise within the department.  A strong commitment to excellence in medical education and graduate training is also required.  Physician candidates must be board certified or board eligible in a pertinent specialty and eligible to be licensed in Alabama.

 

These positions are full-time, twelve-month open rank and open tenure status faculty positions.  Academic rank, tenure status, and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.

 

Successful candidates are expected to maintain a robust, extramurally funded research program and participate in departmental teaching and scholarly activities.  Candidates who have successfully competed for extramural funding from the NIH, NSF, VA, or competitive research foundations will be given top priority.
