The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, one of the world's leading business schools, seeks an Assistant Director of Admissions to join its team in Charlottesville, VA.  With strong momentum in the Full-Time MBA and Working Professional MBA programs, the Assistant Director joins Darden at an exciting time. Darden has been ranked the #1 MBA education experience in the country for almost a decade by the Economist magazine, and has forty percent women and one-third international students, and an average GMAT score of 715 (class of 2023) in its Full-Time MBA program. 

The Assistant Director will be of part of Darden’s Full-Time MBA Admissions committee, responsible for the recruitment, evaluation, selection, and yield of prospective and admitted students.

This position is located in-person in Charlottesville, VA.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Evaluating applications

Reading and evaluating applications for admission into the Darden School of Business.

Recruiting/Travel

Represent Darden at various alumni and prospective student events, MBA forums/fairs, and other events, including yield events both domestically and internationally.  Events will be virtual and in-person.

Interviewing

Interview prospective students on grounds and by Zoom.

Specialty Recruiting Populations

Depending on the team’s needs, Assistant Director of Admissions may focus on recruiting for a particular population of candidates within the Full-Time population.

Education and Professional Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience in student services functions or a total of eight years of experience in lieu of degree. MBA/master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience at a high quality higher education institution, or an equivalent relevant recruiting, student services or HR/talent experience in a top corporation or preeminent boarding school strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, as well as the ability to initiate programmatic and individual activities while functioning in a team setting.
  • A service-oriented approach, familiarity with information systems, and an awareness of the needs and concerns of a selective MBA program are required.
  • Strong collaborative skills.
  • Integrity.
  • Ability to engender trust among internal stakeholders and stakeholders across Grounds, and to work effectively with them.
  • Ability to take initiatives and execute high quality actions using judgment and discretion.
  • Global awareness and understanding.

  • Willingness to travel as necessary. Position requires some evening and weekend work, as well as domestic and international travel.
