Job Summary

Medical Services at CU Boulder encourages applications for an Advance Practice Nurse (APN) ! This position provides patient care, collaborates with providers, participates in quality improvement activities, and participates in continuing education to best support students on campus.

This position will work 80% time from August through May and 50% time during June and July.

The Medical Clinic provides a wide range of health care services for students including: primary care for illnesses and injuries, as well as chronic conditions, physicals, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, allergy shots, vaccinations, travel health care, and concussion care.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Patient Care
  • Perform detailed and accurate medical evaluations and craft a treatment plan in accordance with medical guidelines and standards. Involves communicating with and educating patients regarding their medical condition, follow-up care, and preventive measures. Patient care also includes EMR documentation: Prepare and maintain thorough, accurate, and clear medical records which justify the diagnoses, treatment(s) and billing codes.
  • Make appropriate use of Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Physical Therapy, as well as other ancillary services in clinical decision-making in accordance with the standard practice of medicine. Readily seek appropriate consultation for unusual or unresponsive cases while following established referral procedures.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Participate with other staff nurse practitioners and physicians sharing a proportionate patient load and clinical responsibilities.
Continuing Education
  • Participate in accredited continuing medical education to acquire and maintain the professional knowledge and skills needed to carry out the responsibilities of the position.
  • Maintain current and appropriate nurse practitioner credentials including a Colorado Nursing License, prescriptive authority including annually updated articulated plan, National Certification and DEA registration.
Quality Improvement
  • Participate in the implementation of the Medical Clinic Process Improvement activities.

What We Can Offer
  • The hiring range for this 80/50 appointment is $68,625 - $82,500 annually.

What We Require
  • Registered Advance Nurse Practitioner with State of Colorado.
  • Prescriptive authority in the state of Colorado or eligibility to enter into a preceptorship/mentorship program to acquire full prescriptive authority according to the State of Colorado Nurse Practice Act.
  • National certification as an Advance Practice Nurse (such as ANCC).
  • 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Eligible for clinical privileges as determined by the WHS Credentialing and Privileging Department.

  • Dedication to patient-centered care and an excellent patient experience.
  • Willingness to participate in special clinic situations such as travel clinic, walk-in, fast track, or others.
  • Digital literacy including experience with Windows-based systems.
What We Would Like You To Have
  • 3 years of primary care/urgent care practice experience.
  • Experience with EMR.
