Position Summary

Trinity College seeks a staff that reflects the changing demographics of our student body. This position supports academic and experiential advising initiatives through specific programming, focusing on students’ academic journey beginning from admission through the final year at the College. Responsibilities include co-curricular credit-bearing internship evaluation, academic and experiential advising workshop and event facilitation, student support through the Starting Out Process, management of intersession offerings, as well as Trinity Plus curriculum initiative implementation and evaluation.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Supports Center for Academic and Experiential Advising operations as well as short- and long-term planning, data collection, and reporting. Provides general office management and oversees social media marketing. Maintains academic and experiential advising resources for the Advising Center and campus community use.
  • Serves as lead adviser for credit-bearing internships in close collaboration with the Center for Career and Life Design, completing formal student performance evaluations in consultation with the Experiential Advising Network.
  • Supports initiatives related to the Trinity Plus curriculum including Experiential Certificate program management, co-curricular initiatives, and the Wellness Requirement through experience recruitment, data tracking, and program evaluation.
  • Provides pre-major students with co-curricular and Wellness Requirement support through initiatives including a content-specific workshop series, academic expos, and directed faculty partnerships.
  • Working with faculty, hosts group advising sessions for incoming traditional, transfer, IDP, and alternate start students as part of the Starting Out Process. Communicates via email and telephone with members of the incoming class, as well as parents.
  • Supports intersession credit-bearing offerings. Collaborates with academic departments and the Registrar’s Office to offer intersession course offerings and service student needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years in same or related field required. Master’s degree with 3-5 years in same or related field preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work well in fast-paced and stressful environments.
  • Solid time management skills with the ability to prioritize work.
  • Excellent human relations/customer service skills with the ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
  • Effective communication (written and oral) skills.
  • Public speaking and skills to develop presentations.
  • Ability to perform data entry with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to evaluate information, interpret and analyze data, and develop reports.
  • Skill in program planning, implementation, and management.
  • Ability to train team members or student employees and schedule/coordinate work and activities of others.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with leadership, faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders/constituencies.
  • Ability to uphold a professional code of ethics and maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of departmental technology and computing skills.
  • Skill in accounting and budget management.
  • Skill in web design and webpage updates.
