POSITION DETAILS

Brooklyn College invites applications for a Director of Student Financial Services. Reporting to the AVP for Student Financial Services, the Director of Student Financial Services is responsible for the seamless integration between the offices of the Bursar, Financial Aid, and Scholarships. The Director will oversee major projects such as the implementation of the EAB platform for the Student Financials area and will work closely with the recruitment and retention teams to ensure clear and consistent delivery of Student Financials information.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Director of Student Financial Services duties include but are not limited to:

  • Management of a staff of professionals to advance the mission of the Student Financials area
  • Oversee the activities of the Student Financials Call Center and its staff
  • Recommend, develop, update and implement procedures and document related changes and processes
  • Serve as the strategic planning and assessment liaison lead for the area. Lead the implementation of the EAB platform for advising appointments in the Student Financials area
  • Develop and implement procedures, reports, and queries to facilitate various SFS related processes. Document the newly created Student Financials process in its entirety
  • Develop and recommend process improvements. In consultation with the financial aid advisement team, map out, refine, and document the advisement process
  • Manage the development and ongoing assessment of a Service Excellence initiative for the area
  • Manage the coordination of monthly area updates to ensure transparency and effective communication across the area
  • Develop area wide training and professional development. Facilitate trainings
  • Manage the student financials social media presence
  • Provide student financial information to prospective and continuing students. Work closely with the recruitment and retention team and attend admissions events
  • Work with the data analytics office to provide dashboards and data to document progress on various projects
  • Coordinate outreach in the form of calls, presentations, etc., to various student groups as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience required.

Preferred

  • Supervisory experience in Bursar and/or in Financial Aid
  • Experience managing a team required
  • Experience working in a higher education institution required
  • Attention to detail and organization required
  • Ability to work across areas and divisions effectively
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required

  • Serves as a consultant to management in investigating current situations and in identifying the scope of the problem and potential solutions
