Provides senior level technical expertise in the management of a large, enterprise LAN / WAN / Wireless environment that provides voice, data and video services. Responsible for network architecture, design, capacity planning, change management, network policy development and compliance, and performance monitoring and analysis.
  1. Designs, plans and manages complex LAN/WAN and/or Wireless networks and network systems installation and upgrade projects.
  2. Monitors and manages data traffic and controls network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission.
  3. Performs technical analyses of software, hardware and transmission facilities using various diagnostic tools in support of efficient network operations.
  4. Develops, implements and monitors compliance with best practices for network standards and policies.
  5. Evaluates and recommends networking product and software upgrades and improvements.
  6. Analyzes performance metrics and provides recommendations to management.
  7. Provides technical guidance to lower level network and technical support staff as needed.
  8. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications :

Bachelors and 5 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Network certification (preferred Aruba WiFi or CWNP)
  • 5 years Network design and operations (preferred Aruba WiFi)
  • Knowledge of 802.11 standard
  • RF survey experience (preferred Ekahau)
  • Fulfill onsite duties in the UIT Emergency Rideout team as needed
