The Washington State University (WSU) Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) in the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Pullman, WA seeks to fill a full-time continuous career track (clinical track) or tenure track faculty position in comparative theriogenology. The successful applicant will join a dedicated team focused on clinical teaching, clinical service and scholarship.

The Comparative Theriogenology service is currently staffed by 2 boarded theriogenologists, 2 residents, a licensed veterinary technician, and a patient services coordinator. The service provides theriogenology services to many domestic animal species including small animals, horses, cattle, swine, small ruminants, and camelids. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) is the leading referral center in the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest with over 20,000 patient visits per year. Our state-of-the-art equipment includes laparoscopic-assisted embryo collection and transfer apparatus for small ruminants, universal transcervical insemination endoscope (STORZ) for small animals, and oocyte aspiration equipment for cattle.

Our theriogenology team actively participates in the WSU Center for Reproductive Biology, an inter-institutional program involving 26 departments at WSU (Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver and Puyallup campuses), University of Idaho, Central Washington University, Montana State University, University of Washington, Spokane Community College, University of Texas San-Antonio, and East Carolina University. Altogether, the Center includes approximately 85 faculty and over 270 students, postdoctoral fellows, and technical staff, making it one of the largest reproductive biology centers in the world. The Center’s mission is to provide opportunities for investigators from across the Pacific Northwest to collaborate, learn from one another, and advance our understanding of reproductive and developmental processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The successful applicant will participate in diagnostic service for the VTH, clinical and didactic instruction of professional veterinary students, interns, residents, and graduate students, delivery of continuing education programs to veterinarians, and conduct collaborative clinical, applied or basic research/scholarship within the candidate’s area of interest. Expectations for scholarship/research will be greater for a successful tenure track applicant, appropriate to rank. The successful applicant must be able to effectively communicate and work with people of diverse backgrounds.
