The Department of Economics, University of Hawai’i at Mānoa (Honolulu, Hawai’i) invites applicants for the position of Instructor. This is a non-tenure track, permanent, full-time, 9-month, faculty appointment to begin on January 1, 2023, subject to position clearance and availability of funds.

Duties: Duties include teaching 12-credits per semester of introductory and intermediate level economics, statistical and mathematical techniques in economics, and additional courses serving departmental needs, participate in curriculum development, provide service to the Department, College, and University, and other duties as assigned by the Department Chair. 

Minimum Qualifications:  Candidates must have:

1. M.A. in Economics (or closely related discipline)
2. Experience teaching Economics at a university level
3. Demonstrated aptitude for course instruction at the university level
4. Advanced pedagogical knowledge for both online and in-person instruction
5. Strong communication and organizational skills
6. Ability to direct graduate teaching and learning assistants.

Desirable qualifications include: The ideal candidate will also have:

1. Ph.D. in Economics (or closely related discipline)
2. Proven track record of effective course instruction in lower and upper-division Economics courses at the university level
3. Experience successfully teaching large lecture courses
4. Commitment to undergraduate education
5. Experience teaching diverse student populations. Given the multicultural and diverse context of UHM, we also seek candidates with a demonstrated interest in, and the potential to contribute to, diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
6. Interest in advancing instructional pedagogy in Economics in both online and in-person formats.

Salary range: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
