The College of Innovation & Technology (CIT) at the University of Michigan-Flint (https://www.umflint.edu/cit/) seeks to become a national leader in innovation and research and invites candidates to submit materials for the Myron and Margaret Winegarden Endowed Professor of Innovation and Technology. Through this endowed professorship, CIT seeks to attract an exceptional talent in one or more areas of focus — cybersecurity, AI, robotics, and machine learning. Candidates must have a vision for developing national recognition for CIT and it is essential that they possess the knowledge, drive, and innovative spirit to collaborate and create new degree programs, certificates, and new credentials for graduates to enter the workplace of the future. Innovative programs, pedagogy, and spirit will set the CIT on a trajectory to be recognized as one of the best in the country.

 

Successful candidates will have a research and teaching record befitting an appointment as an endowed professor. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to secure external funds and work collaboratively with industry partners. Experience in leading academic program development and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion are expected. An earned doctorate in technology or closely related field in engineering or computer science is required.

 

Review of applications will commence immediately for positions that begin in January - September 2023. Full consideration will be given to applications received by September 1, 2022 and applications will continue to be accepted until the positions are filled. The University of Michigan-Flint has a robust dual-enrolled program with area high schools and as such, applicants having similar educational experiences are preferred.

Applicants of all ranks require an earned doctorate in the appropriate field or closely related field in engineering or computer science, or similar terminal degree in Energy or Sustainability.  Applicants for tenured Full Professor must have 8-12 years of academic experience demonstrating excellent teaching in face-to-face, online, and experiential settings along with a strong scholarship record. Most importantly, senior applicants must possess a vision of a 21st century college of innovation and technology and have experience to work in authentic industry partnerships.

 

  1. Ph.D. in appropriate field or closely related field in Engineering or Computer Science, or similar terminal degree in Energy or Sustainability
  2. Record of teaching excellence in face-to-face, online, and experiential settings commensurate with desired rank
  3. Record of research and scholarly publications commensurate with desired rank
