The Biology Department is seeking a Research Technologist who will have two main responsibilities: research assistant (80%) and lab management (20%). This individual will set up and perform experiments studying gene regulation in the fly retina. They will also generate mutants using CRISPR and analyze changes in gene expression.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Research Technologist Responsibilities include:
- Cell culture
- Generating CRISPR mutant stem cells
- Differentiating organoids
- Performing RNA and DNA in situ hybridization
- Immunostaining
- Confocal microscopy
- Preparing stock solutions, buffers and media
- Generating recombinant DNA constructs data analysis
- Attending and presenting data in lab meetings
- Work with PI and other lab members to write a manuscript
Lab Management Responsibilities include:
- Ordering consumables an maintaining records
- Managing supplies
- Upholding safety regulations
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.
- Previous experience with molecular biology and cell culture
- DNA/protein molecular biology software (ex: Geneious) is strongly preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Illustrator, Photoshop.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to exercise.
