Position Summary:
University of Idaho Extension, 4-H, is seeking an Assistant or Associate for an Area Extension Educator to provide statewide leadership and technical support for Agricultural STEM programs and projects in positive youth development. Support these program areas through collaboration at the state, multi-state, and national levels. Positive youth development includes programs, activities, and resources in non-formal academic settings. STEM is a curriculum based on the concept of educating youth in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Also, the position will focus on expanding partnerships and bringing ancillary external resources to support the UI Extension 4-H Youth Development Program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Agricultural Sciences, Youth Development, Education, or a closely related discipline (the required degree must be completed by hire date).
- Professional experience working with volunteer and youth programs.
- Excellent presentation and organizational skills.
- Effective team communication skills; in-person, via technologies, and in groups.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to work in cross-cultural environments.
- Willingness to travel.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office package, online applications, and social media.
- Demonstrated the ability to coordinate, plan, and implement events, workshops, trainings, and programs.
- Organize and prepare information and materials, communicate with the public, both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in Extension, preferably 4-H Youth Development Coursework in Education, Agriculture, and/or Human/Youth Development.
- Experience in grant and budget management.
- Demonstrate conflict resolution skills.
- Network/collaboration experience with volunteer organization.
- Experience generating curriculum and resource materials.
- Experience in event management.
- Experience: developing, recommending, and evaluating program procedures and recommending changes.
- Experience developing technical written materials such as policies, technical manuals, or rules/regulations.
- Experience providing technical program assistance to staff and volunteers. Experience gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts.
- Experience devising solutions to problems, writing concise reports and developing and evaluating policies and procedures.
- Work experience in an Agricultural Science or Education-related field.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- Work a flexible schedule, including some weekends
- Must: possess a valid driver’s license.
- Physical ability to move and lift 50 lbs.
