Position Summary:
The Aquaculture Research Institute seeks fill one position at the level of Research Scientist I or II. The position will conduct research individually and as part of collaborative teams within the Aquaculture Research Institute at the Hagerman Fish Culture Experiment Station. The position will perform research on fish nutrition, physiology, and feeds. A significant portion of this position involves industry interactions, the development of sponsored research projects, reporting, and lab management. The incumbent will perform and oversee students with standard nutritional and biochemical analyses of feeds and tissues, as well as gene/protein expression assays. Standard statistical methods will be applied to the data and interpreted for stakeholder understanding and publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Research Scientist I Serves as an independent researcher, or a collaborator on a multi-scholar research initiative. May have lead responsibility for discrete components of a larger project under the general direction of a senior or principal researcher.Research Scientist IIDesigns and manages all aspects of a research portfolio complimentary to that of other research scientists or research faculty. Often maintains active research collaborations external to the university.

Minimum Qualifications:
Research Scientist I
Doctoral degree in Aquaculture, Animal Sciences, Fisheries, Biology or related field; A master’s degree plus an additional two years of research experience may be substituted for a Ph.D.

Research Scientist IIDoctoral degree in Aquaculture, Animal Sciences, Fisheries, Biology or related field

Research Scientist IThree years of research experience related to the domain of this positionResearch Scientist II5 years of research experience beyond receipt of doctoral degreeDemonstrated record of research achievementParticipation in the development and submission of sponsored project proposals

Preferred Qualifications:
Research Scientist IRecord of writing proposals and acquiring externally funded grants.Record of 2 or more lead-author publications in peer reviewed journals.Experience with experimental design and data analysis.

Research Scientist IIDemonstrating ability to work independently and with an interdisciplinary team.Experience serving as PI or Co-PI on extramurally funded research.Experience working with industry on the development and execution of sponsored research projects.
