Job Summary

Applications are invited for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to work on Urban Health in the US and Latin America.

The Fellow will work under the supervision of Ana V. Diez Roux, Professor Epidemiology and Dean, and PI of the SALURBAL Study. The Fellow with also have the opportunity to collaborate with other faculty at the Urban Health Collaborative and Dornsife School of Public Health as well as with faculty engaged in multisite and collaborative projects locally, nationally, and internationally. Experience working with vital statistics and cross-sectional surveys, conducting multilevel and spatial analyses as well as longitudinal analyses is desirable.

The Fellow will have the opportunity to lead publications and develop their own research ideas. The Fellow will be expected to work collaboratively with other researchers in the Salud Urbana en America Latina (SALURBAL) study.

The Fellow will be housed in the Urban Health Collaborative (http://drexel.edu/uhc/), a collaboration of all departments in the Drexel Dornsife School of Public Health, with unique mentoring and networking opportunities. The fellow will join an interdisciplinary team of researchers across multiple institutions to conduct analyses and write papers. The Fellow will have ample opportunities for mentoring, interacting with collaborators, and career development. The fellow will meet weekly or biweekly with their mentor.

Essential Functions
  • Conducting data analyses and writing papers as lead or co-author
  • Presenting results at scientific meetings
  • Developing new research ideas linked to the general project themes
  • Actively participating in collaborative research meetings
  • Assist with selected data management and data analysis task in support of the SALURBAL project or other projects as assigned by Dr. Diez Roux
Required Qualifications
  • PhD or Doctorate in Epidemiology, demography, or the social sciences
  • At least 1-2 years of experience working on research projects or data analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • The successful candidate will have a strong quantitative background and good communication skills
  • Individuals are strongly encouraged to apply if they have training and research experience in the analysis of vital statistics, cross-sectional surveys, multilevel and spatial analyses, and are interested in furthering their expertise and publications in the area of social epidemiology and urban health
