Pace University is ranked the #1 private, four-year college in the nation for upward economic mobility by Harvard University’s Opportunity Insights, evidence of the transformative education the University provides. Our College of Health Professions is seeking either a Full-time Tenure Track Faculty or Non-Tenure Track Clinical Faculty member to join the Health Science Department. This position will be appointed at either the Department Chair or Program Director level depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate and may be based at either the New York City Campus or Westchester Campus located in Pleasantville NY.

Department Overview:

The growing Department of Health Science, situated at the New York City (downtown) and Westchester campuses, is comprised of 4 full-time primary faculty members. The Department’s faculty address pressing public health and global health issues and are recognized both nationally and internationally for their important contributions to scholarship, education, policy, and practice. The Department’s flagship program, the Bachelor of Science in Health Science, educates 250 Health Science students. An MSc in Health Informatics will start in Fall 2022, and a Master of Public Health is slated to begin in Fall 2023. The Department is housed within the College of Health Professions, with faculty members appointed within undergraduate and graduate programs in Nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, Occupational Therapy, and Nutrition and Dietetics. The current position offers exceptional opportunities for academic and professional collaboration.

The College believes that the diversity of our faculty, staff, and students is vitally important to the excellence of our academic programs. We are seeking a creative and growth-oriented leader with the capacity to build on the College’s existing excellence. The successful candidate will lead the development of accelerated programs and our growing Bachelor of Health Science degree. If appointed at the Department Chair level, they will also lead the development of new interdisciplinary graduate-level programs and advance research and academic capacity.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Working with faculty to develop new programs and guide them through the appropriate internal and external approval processes including where appropriate accreditation application
  • Setting annual program goals and evaluating outcomes
  • Onboarding and mentoring new faculty
  • Facilitating faculty role development in teaching and scholarship, and supporting their service role, including engagement in professional activities
  • Collaborating with faculty to ensure quality programs and outcomes
  • Leading curriculum reviews of the programs to determine and meet success metrics for students, including retention
  • Addressing student concerns and conducting grade appeals
  • Developing annual teaching schedules for faculty

  • Facilitating student recruitment and conversion events for robust enrollments in all programs
  • Working with the Assistant Dean for Finance and Human Resources to plan and manage the academic area budgets

  • Representing the Dean at internal and external meetings, as needed
  • Teaching health science courses in undergraduate and graduate degree programs as appropriate to one’s field of expertise
  • For tenure-track appointment – maintaining an active research program, publishing research papers, and seeking research funding
  • Supporting capstone projects, mentored research, and innovative experiential learning opportunities

The ideal candidates will possess the following:

For Tenure-Track Faculty appointment:

  • Research doctorate in a health science-related field
  • A strong track record of professional experience in higher education administration; at least three years of documented successful full-time experience related to teaching in an academic setting, curriculum development, and curriculum evaluation

A Department Chair must have the experience to oversee multiple degree programs, and the ability to develop new interdisciplinary programs across different colleges and campuses within the University. This also includes familiarity with accreditation and state approval processes. The Program Director level appointment has as a primary aim the oversight of the Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, a rapidly growing program that is being shaped as a gateway to multiple different career end-points through articulation with graduate programs and the development of accelerated programs.
