Job Description:
Reporting to the Dean of the Law School, the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration is responsible for the creation and management of the operating budget of the Law School; oversight of capital and restricted accounts; preparation of financial and related reports (both for internal use and for external audiences); management of reporting obligations to accrediting agencies and consumer rankings groups. Additionally, the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration is responsible for managing all law building improvements and overseeing maintenance for Sydney Lewis Hall, including working closely with Facilities and other parties as needed. As a member of the Dean’s leadership team, the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration also collaborates on strategic planning initiatives for the Law School and works closely with other members of the Dean’s leadership team and with other administrators across campus.

Essential Functions:
- Assists the Dean of the Law School in the drafting of Law
School operating budgets and monitors compliance with those budgets
over the course of the fiscal year. Advises Dean on effective use
of operating, restricted and capital funds.
- Tracks financial performance of the Law School, preparing
regular reports for internal use and, as appropriate, for external
audiences.
- Coordinates the submission of the Law School’s responses to
annual data requests to accrediting agencies, including the
American Bar Association and Commission on Colleges of the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools. Assists the Dean and Associate
Dean of Academic Affairs in ensuring compliance with relevant
accreditation standards.
- Assists the Dean of the Law School with oversight for the
position budget. Oversees adjunct and visitor faculty costs
ensuring that annual expenses remain within budget. Knowledgeable
on Law School’s positions, assesses staffing needs and develops
related proposals.
- Oversees the submission of responses to annual consumer ranking
surveys including, but not limited to, the U.S. News and World
Report law school rankings.
- Responsible for overseeing all expenditures from Law School
accounts.
- Manages the Faculty Services department, which currently
includes three individuals providing administrative assistance to
members of the Law School Faculty.
- Coordinates the onboarding of new Law School employees,
including facilitating office space, keys and other administrative
support, as appropriate.
- As a member of the Law School leadership team, participates in
creating and implementing strategic planning initiatives for the
Law School.
- Coordinates with University Facilities on all outstanding
capital requests and projects. Develops annual capital request
budget in coordination with the Dean. Acts as primary point of
contact for Law School building and infrastructure needs and
requests.
- Provides supervision to one of the Executive Assistants to the
Deans’ Office.
- Collaborates with other associate and assistant deans on
budget, strategy and related issues.
- Additional related duties as assigned.
Minimum Pay: $138,080 - Pay Commensurate with Experience
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant graduate degree is preferred. Five to seven years of management experience in higher education or a similar field, or a combination of experience and education is expected. Strong analytical skills and ability to manage large-scale projects independently is a must. Thorough understanding of legal education policy and procedures or equivalent is important. Ability to work productively with fellow administrators, faculty and students is also a must.
