Position Summary:
Susquehanna University's Human Resources department is excited to announce an opening for our Director of Talent Management. We seek candidates passionate and knowledgeable about delivering full Talent Management Life Cycle strategies and service to our organization. Key aspects of this role include design, implementation and measuring outcomes for workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, retention, performance management and offboarding. Our very manageable requisition load will allow you to be strategic and engage in impactful work that focuses on creating innovative and sustainable staffing models. This position offers the opportunity to work full-time in person; or work remotely with the ability to travel to campus as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement inclusive recruitment and retention strategies for staff and student workers.
  • Partner with the Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer in the development of inclusive recruitment and retention practices.
  • Collaborate with managers and provide SME on their overall talent strategy. Ensure that University employment policies and procedures are compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and institutional strategies.
  • Partner with the Career Development Center, Student Financial Services, and HR staff to integrate all aspects of student employment into one comprehensive program.
  • Ensure accurate records, reports and other written materials related to employment are updated regularly and shared with key stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Director of Compensation & Benefits in communicating our total rewards and employment value proposition to faculty, staff, and applicants.
  • Lead new hire experience strategy including New Hire Orientation, Onboarding, and 30, 60,90-day check-ins.
  • Acts as backup for Assistant Director of HR.
  • Track metrics staff and student recruitment and retention metrics, for example: time to fill, offer acceptance rates, net hire ratio, and first year turnover.


Required Qualifications:
Job CompetenciesCollaborative self-starter with knowledge of principles, practices, and functions of effective talent management. Ability to integrate core values, integrity and accountability throughout institutional practices; ability to direct and contribute to initiatives and processes within the institution; ability to understand and apply information to contribute to the university’s strategic plan; ability to provide guidance to institutional stakeholders with regards to internal and external candidate pools; ability to make strategic decisions and interpret data and information to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete situations where limited standardization exists; ability to value and consider the perspectives and backgrounds of all parties. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills with varied and diverse constituencies. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service including active listening, customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Strong time management skills, with ability to set priorities.EducationBachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, such as Industrial Relations or Psychology, Business Administration or Management is required.ExperienceFive years of human resources or related experience required. Experience developing and implementing inclusive Talent Management practices required. Demonstrated evidence of building inclusive Talent Management strategies to include but not limited to DE&I, talent attraction, selection, and retention with an emphasis on candidate and employee experience.
Physical DemandPosition requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Must be able to travel long distances if needed, by airplane and by automobile. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional stooping, crouching, and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift to 10 pounds. Working conditions are indoor.
