The HR Leave & Payroll Liaison will coordinate with TAMU to ensure payroll processes correctly and perform various other payroll related duties in order to support current payroll operations.

  • Responsible for providing exemplary payroll, timekeeping and leave-related customer service. Responds to routine inquiries regarding payroll and leave policies, procedures and programs and improves and maintains knowledge base regarding payroll and leave laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Acts as the primary liaison with TAMU on payroll issues. Adheres to production calendar for biweekly and monthly payroll and works with TAMU Payroll staff to ensure retro payments process correctly.
  • Runs payroll and related leave reports and detect discrepancies. Prompts HR Contacts to review and approve biweekly/monthly payroll and non-exempt staff to meet time entry deadlines.
  • Administers faculty “Save for Summer” program and assists with the “12 over 9” program.
  • Responsible for the payroll process for charitable contributions.
  • Coordinates student FICA exemption process, including corrections and transmits FICA exemption file to TAMU each pay period.
  • Provides support and assistance in processes related to ensuring accurate taxing of international employees utilizing GLACIER, updating Workday and serving as liaison with TAMU tax services.
  • Provides administrative support for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), leave donations and contributions, unpaid time off and timesheets.
  • Trains employees/managers on how to enter/approve time and leave. Trains employees on leave programs. Provides other training as needed.
  • Maintains related records in accordance with records retention policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • One (1) year of related experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to adapt to change.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with automated Payroll/Leave/Human Resource Management systems.
  • Workday/FAMIS/Canopy/Business Objects/Cascade experience.
  • Knowledge of Texas state agency payroll and leave administration.
  • Knowledge of state and federal payroll and leave laws.
