Summary

This position is to support grant-funded research in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. It requires processing and analyzing samples and performance of molecular and cellular biology techniques.

Typical Duties
Ability to work carefully, reproducibly and reliably. Preference for experience with storage, archiving, maintaining and retrieving samples from large repositories, but will train on the job.

Required Education and Experience
B.A./B.S, M.S. or Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, with at least two years of appropriate research experience in molecular technology, is required. Skills in Molecular Biology (including PCR and RT-PCR, high throughput DNA and RNA sequencing) are preferred. Also helpful: computer skills (word processing, graphics, statistical analysis), nucleic acid purification, knowledge of basic chemistry (determination of molarity, protein concentration and dilutions), electrophoresis, ability to use basic lab equipment including balances and centrifuges, pH meter, spectrophotometers and microscopes. Facility to interact with a diverse group of individuals, and evidence of ability to learn new techniques quickly are also essential. Good organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills in English are required

This is a restricted position with no set end date and continued employment is dependent upon project need, availability of funding, and performance.
