Summary
Primary purpose and responsibilities: Perform grant funded research in molecular and genomic microbiology, microbiome science and related projects.
Required qualifications and experience: Ph.D. with at least 4 years postdoctoral experience in related area with expertise in bioinformatics and statistical analysis of DNA and RNA sequence data. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred qualifications and experience: Experience with high throughput sequence analysis, performance and analysis of microbiome related research projects. Ability to process and analyze high dimensional data sets using informatic, statistical and machine learning approaches, independently. Good communication skills and documented ability to work in collaborative research groups. Good understanding of molecular and biochemical approaches to study of microbial processes.
