Position Function

The Director of Audience Development is responsible for strategic vision, implementation, and oversight of all areas of content conception, creation, curation, and delivery of high-quality content across multiple media platforms, generating awareness that serves the needs and focus areas of thecommunity and Ball State University.The Director selects content development standards and content management systems, to ensure content is structured to provide optimized viewer/listener experience. The Director supervises staff in all content areas (radio, television and online), including Community Engagement, TV Production, Marketing and Programming.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution.

Minimum Experience

· Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in non-profit media organization

Minimum Other

· Demonstrated skills of creativity, resourcefulness, design and production of digital, print and collateral marketing materials.
· Proven skills in successful collaborations across departments.
· Clear understanding of and commitment to public media mission, vision, and culture.
· Demonstrated expertise in working with non-profit media and committees to achieve organization’s goals.
· Exceptional written and oral communications skills.
· Strong design and marketing skills essential.

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

· More than five years of experience in public media broadcasting with proven skills of creativity, resourcefulness, design and production of digital, print and collateral marketing materials.
· Advanced degree and/or industry-specific certification preferred

Establish and maintain effective collaborations with University Media Services, Digital Corps, and the College of Communication, Media and Information ( CCIM ), as the key leadership team. Coordinate efforts with these areas to ensure optimum audience development across platforms, and promotion of local content developed. Directs overall quality, budgets, and management of all content and productions across all platforms of Ball State Public Media.
