Position Summary
The Office of Institutional Research and Assessment serves as a resource for the Simmons University community, providing accurate and timely information to a variety of stakeholders at the University as well as external agencies. We provide data, topical research, and analytical support to departments and senior administrators to support decision-making and strategic planning.

Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Senior Research Analyst works collaboratively across the University to identify, define, and prioritize institutional research to support all aspects of the University's operations, including enrollment planning (enrollment projections, recruitment yields, student retention, and student graduation); faculty instructional workload; instructional costs and academic productivity; and peer benchmarking.

Essential Functions:
  • Leads the design and implementation of research projects, surveys, questionnaires, and assessment studies using appropriate qualitative and/or quantitative techniques to ensure validity, integrity, and the consistency of data results.
  • Provides statistical analysis, modeling, and interpretation of data to support executive decision-making, institutional planning, and policy development.
  • Presents key information and research findings that address critical issues in the areas of strategic planning, accreditation, student retention and graduation to the University senior leadership.
  • Implements and summarizes complex analytical research into coherent reports to support decision-making.
  • Designs and develops dashboards and other data visualizations for all departments across the University to use and track data.
  • Contributes to the University-wide projects, such as Academic Portfolio Management, by conducting data analysis and generating interactive dashboards as well as reports.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required and Graduate degree preferred with educational background in social behavioral sciences, statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of related professional experience in higher education.
  • Proficiency with Social Science research design, research methodologies and statistical analysis.
  • Strong MS Office skills, including intermediate to advanced Excel.
  • Knowledge of visualization software and/or reporting-dashboard technology such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Database management and design.
  • Experience with large databases and quantitative analytical tools, including SQL and SPSS or similar statistical software.
  • Experience in survey design, development, implementation and reporting (Qualtrics preferred).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact with individuals at all levels, and to work as a team.
  • Strong self-initiative and service orientation; must work well independently and as part of a team.
