Department Summary
This posting will be used to fill multiple positions throughout the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS).

CAS offers the core liberal arts and sciences curriculum that serves the entire UO undergraduate population. As of 2019, the majority of undergraduates (more than 60 percent, or almost 11,000 students at any given time) go on to pursue a degree in one of the college's 40+ undergraduate degree programs. CAS also serves the majority of UO's graduate students, with numerous master's programs and 30+ doctoral programs that produce approximately 75% of the university's Ph.Ds. CAS is also home to approximately 750 faculty, 1,000+ graduate employees, and 200 administrative employees.
Position Summary
CAS is undergoing an administrative reorganization; positions filled from this posting are permanent, but will likely be reorganized in the next several months. These positions are a great opportunity to learn about academic program accounting, and to be considered for advancement as the new administrative structure is implemented. We will discuss this in more detail with candidates during the interview process.

Employees in the Accounting Technician classification in CAS process a variety of accounting and other transactions. Here are some examples of tasks:

  • Coding and processing payables
  • Preparing deposits
  • Processing and reconciling credit card payables and receivables
  • Making journal entries
  • Processing travel approvals and reimbursements
  • Explaining processes and policies to faculty, staff, and students
  • Preparing purchase orders
  • Reconciling accounts
  • Creating financial reports
  • Checking that purchasing policies and restrictions are followed
  • General office support

    Minimum Requirements
  • 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of Accounting courses AND
  • An Associates Degree in Accounting; OR

  • One year of experience that includes entering, compiling and/or reporting financial information; OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses. All courses must be from accredited colleges, universities, or private vocational schools.
