Position Title Research Support III - Center for Underground The Opportunity

Perform financial accounting services for the Center for Underground, including tracking of debits and credits to research fund accounts, updating summary spreadsheets for grants, reallocating indirect cost returns to faculty, and serving as liaison to university administrative units on behalf of the research faculty. This is a part-time position—10 hours per week—remote or hybrid.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain summary spreadsheets for 10-20 grant accounts on monthly basis.
  • Assist faculty members with financial setup and financial projections of 5-10 new grants per year.
  • Track and perform quality control checking of expenditures, debits, and credits of 10-20 ongoing research accounts.
  • Reallocate indirect cost returns to faculty member accounts.
  • Submit journal entries and payroll reallocations as needed to correct misappropriated expenditures.
  • Oversee occasional credit card purchases by center students and staff.
  • Work with academic departments to make sure new and renewal student and staff contracts are submitted, maintained.
  • Liaise with various financial departments on campus on center grant issues, e.g., payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in an accounting or related field is desired.
  • 3 years experience in accounting related work is desired.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Spreadsheets, financial accounting skills.
  • Initiative to chase down answers and persist in a sometimes complex system.
  • Emotional intelligence to deal with frequent errors within university financial systems.
Preferred Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Experience at Colorado School of Mines or higher education desired.

Pay Range

$29.00 - $32.00 per hour
