Biological Scientist II
Job Description:
- Design, conduct, and supervise the implementation of experiments related to precision irrigation and nutrient management conducted in the laboratory and field environment.
- Collect data and evaluate the effectiveness of experimental treatments and perform appropriate statistical analyses.
- Provide leader to the Florida Stakeholder Engagement Program (STEP)
- Coordinate with industry representatives regarding products and procedures for testing.
- Coordinate the daily operations of the crop irrigation and nutrient management in STEP including the maintenance of supplies and supervision and scheduling of support personnel in consultation with the immediate supervisor.
- Writing manuscripts and reports and preparing presentations.
- Present abstracts, papers, and workshops at industry and scientific meetings, and assist with extension and school visits.
Commensurate with education and experience
Minimum Requirements:
- Masters’ degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Soil and Water Sciences or a closely related field and one year of relevant experience; Doctoral degree in Agricultural Engineering, Agronomy, Soil and Water Sciences or a closely related field.
- Valid US driver’s license required.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs.
- Knowledge of scientific methods including experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis.
- High-level communication skills both verbal and written, interpersonal relationships.
- Experience with irrigation and nutrient management, fungicides, fluent in English (other language skills are encouraged).
