We are offering flexible scheduling based on your schedule; Day & Night shifts are available on any day of the week, including weekends!

University Housing is looking for individuals to join our Dining & Culinary Services team on a temporary basis. This position is expected to run through the end of the Spring 2023 semester (mid-May 2023).

The Food Service Assistant position helps prepare and serve high quality food in residential dining facilities on the UW-Madison campus.

Responsibilities:

Prepares food and completes related tasks according to quality and safety standards to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve departmental food service goals.
  • 20% Performs routine food preparation activities such as portioning, chopping food, and serving food to customers
  • 10% Assists and guides student workers
  • 10% Prepares a variety of basic dishes such as sandwiches and salads, and assists in the preparation of more complex dishes
  • 20% Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food preparation and associated activities
  • 10% Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
  • 15% Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
  • 15% Coordinate and perform the set-up and clean-up of preparation, production, service areas, catering events, and equipment.
Tasks:
  • Demonstrate and role model exceptional customer service.
  • Interact with English speaking customers while displaying knowledge of food products, allergens, and food safety.
  • Perform duties in a high-volume, dynamic, student residential dining environment.
  • Provide support and assist as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.

At least 1 year of food production experience preferred.

Work Schedule:

Shifts available from 6:00am - 9:00pm.

Flexibility may be available for part-time work schedules, different scheduled work days, weekend hours in lieu of weekdays, etc. Schedule will be determined with candidate at time of offer.

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Terminal appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.
