Full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 15, 2023 to teach primarily in the Doctor of Arts program in English Pedagogy.

Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate should bring special emphases on teaching English in community colleges and on the school-to-college transition. Specific responsibilities include the following:
  • Teach graduate English pedagogy courses on assessment, curriculum, reflective methods, and instructional technology
  • Work with graduate students on research and capstone experiences
  • Teach other graduate and undergraduate courses according to departmental needs
  • Maintain an active agenda of scholarly research in the field
  • Engage in university service
  • Pursue external grants and other extramural funding

Minimum Education Requirements:
Doctorate in English, English Education or closely related field is required. A minimum of 18 graduate hours in English is also required.

Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
Graduate coursework in pedagogy or pedagogical research is required. Evidence of strong teaching, evidence of strong potential to teach courses in English pedagogy, and evidence of strong potential for research and publication is also required. Ability and willingness to teach through diverse modes (evening, daytime, traditional, online, hybrid, weekends as needed) and experience teaching English in a community college or other adult learning setting is required.

Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
Experience and/or research in the field of adult learning, ability to teach mixed methods of research to English teachers, ability to teach digital literacy and the use of digital tools including research tools (for example, SPSS or corpus-based research) to teachers is preferred. Experience teaching English literature and composition as a full-time faculty member in a community college is also preferred. Evidence of an ability and a willingness to interpret and implement curricula in ways that advance racial justice, especially by drawing from experience and a history of engagement with underserved communities of color and underrepresented minority students is preferred.
