Graduate Student Support Coordinator

Position Summary:
This position provides high level administrative support and customer service to faculty, staff, and graduate students by advising, interpreting and explaining University and COGS academic rules and policies. Duties include creating, analyzing and evaluating various college forms for compliance with the University and COGS' rules. The position is focused on providing excellent student service with phone, email, and walk-in traffic. The position requires a high level of decision making and interpretation of polices and institutional rules. Travel may be required to provide training for students and faculty at campus locations across the state.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Three years of experience providing administrative and/or student support.
• Experience:
- Working in a team environment
- Editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials
- Independently researching, compiling, developing and summarizing material for reports
- Interpreting, applying and explaining policies and procedures/rules and regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree
• Five years of experience providing student support in higher education
• Experience:
- Handling a variety of projects simultaneously that require a high degree of attention to administrative details.
- Using publication and graphic design software.
- Working in a content management system entering, retrieving and auditing data.
- Knowledge of academic rules and regulations.
- Familiarity with FERPA and UI policies and procedures.
- Understanding of college level administrative support.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
• Long periods of sitting and using a computer. May be asked to travel to other UI locations to deliver training workshops, consult with faculty and students, and attend university functions.
