OPENING FOR TENURED FACULTY POSITION IN HUMAN GENETICS AND GENOME SEQUENCING IN THE DEPARTMENT OF GENOME SCIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON
The Department of Genome Sciences at the University of Washington invites applications for 1 full-time faculty position at the rank of ASSOCIATE or FULL PROFESSOR, with tenure. This is a 12 month, indefinite appointment with an anticipated start date of September, 2023.
The Northwest Genomics Center (NWGC), which is based in UW Genome Sciences, is the largest self-sustaining sequencing center in the Pacific Northwest, with ongoing contributions to large-scale NIH funded projects including the All of Us Research Program, the Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed) program, and the Genomics Research to Elucidate the Genetics of Rare diseases (GREGoR) Consortium. The successful candidate will be expected to serve as the Scientific Director of the NWGC, a role that may include serving as a principal investigator in the aforementioned programs, as well as continuing the center’s tradition of staying at the leading edge of genomic technologies and the application of genomic knowledge to understanding and treating human genetic disease.
In addition to directing the NWGC, the successful candidate will be expected to establish an active research program in their area of interest, and to engage in teaching and service. Research in the department encompasses genetic, genomic and proteomic analysis of humans and model organisms; population and evolutionary genetics; technology development; and computational biology.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, or foreign equivalent.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or foreign equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services
