Job Summary
Senior position in the Office of Physical Resources and Planning (OPRP). Reports to Associate Dean and is a member of the Sr. Leadership Team in the department. This position works with the Faculty of Arts & Sciences (FAS) Dean, FAS Dean of Administration & Finance, OPRP Associate Dean on FAS campus-wide capital project planning and related activities. This position is responsible for the management of the FAS capital construction program of approximately $240 million. The FAS buildings portfolio totals over 10 million square feet of space and over 260 buildings. The capital program consists of projects across the portfolio and includes construction of new academic buildings, major laboratory renovations, replacement of building-wide infrastructure, including HVAC and electrical systems, gut renovations and expansions/additions to athletic facilities, life safety upgrades, undergraduate housing renovations, libraries, faculty appointment projects, program, and department initiatives and other capital renewal projects.

Basic Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive experience in capital program management, strategic financial planning, project planning, project management, and design/construction supervision including large-scale projects with a high degree of complexity.
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant architecture, engineering, construction management, or project management discipline required.
- Working knowledge of relevant computer tools.
- Experience developing and implementing project-based reporting, protocols, and systems including university budgeting and accounting systems, capital project management systems, and construction review and communication software.
- Highly skilled in written and verbal communications and able to work well with University clients at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects and supervise staff in the delivery of a complex capital program. Experience in higher education capital project development processes preferred.
- Working knowledge of architectural principles as they related to campus planning, design, construction, and operations.
- Broad technical knowledge of construction and building systems (structural, life safety, mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, etc.). Ability to read and correctly interpret construction documents and blueprints, geotechnical reports, and real estate/building-related legal documents.
- Working knowledge of principles of sustainable design and development as they related to campus planning, design, construction, and operations.
- Presentation skills required for small and large groups. Demonstrated ability to effectively convey architectural and construction concepts in written and graphic formats, and in oral presentations to faculty, executives, administrators, students, and the public. Ability to facilitate meetings.

Position Description
- Directly supervises and manages six Senior Capital Project managers, Manager of Contracts and Controls, assigned capital project administrative and control support staff, and outside project managers/consultants. Support project managers' efforts to control scope, budget, schedule aspects of projects, and ensure FAS sustainability, accessibility, and DIB strategies and goals are incorporated in all capital projects.
- Establish and implement consistent project management procedures, based in IT systems, for financial and schedule management activities. Establish and implement consistent project management reporting and collection of historic project data.
- Represent department in relationships with Central Administration Office of General Counsel, CAPS Office, Insurance Division, University Planning Office, Campus Services, Central Capital Projects department, Alumni Affairs and Development, and Strategic Procurement.
- Communicate directly with FAS and University leaders to provide updates on critical, high–visibility projects.
- Work closely with Associate Dean and other FAS Dean(s) to develop capital budgets for new/developing capital projects of larger size, importance or with donor involvement. Close work with Deans continues through ongoing project reviews and approvals.
