Position Summary

The Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity works proactively to address systemic inequities through professional learning, community building, advocacy, policy recommendations and organizational structures, while facilitating an integrated vision and shared responsibility for prioritizing and advancing institutional goals. The Chief Wellness and Compliance Officer reports to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Campus Diversity. The Chief Wellness and Compliance Officer manages the components of the University's Health Insurance Initiatives that the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity's (SACD) oversees; this role also supervises and provides leadership to the Director of SASC. This role works in conjunction with the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity and collaboratively with the leadership in Student Health Services, Student Ability Success Center, Economic Crisis Response Team, Well-Being and Health Promotion and Campus Assistant, Response, Evaluation and Support to ensure compliance with all health and disability executive orders and campus mandates and/or policies. The incumbent is responsible for the direction, planning, administration, organization and evaluation of the noted department and services offered in support of the students at San Diego State University. The Chief Wellness and Compliance Officer works closely with the Associate Vice President regarding mission, goals and programs, outreach services, staff development, budget, personnel, resource management, assessment, sustainability, and overall direction of the programs.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits-eligible, at-will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

The individual hired into this role will work on-campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Educational Psychology, Management or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of significant, progressively responsible higher level administrative experience which may include the design and/or development of wellness, advising, compliance, student disability and student support resources related programs and services, extensive work in or with academic units/departments, program evaluation and assessment, data analysis, and responsibility for fiscal management, including budget development and human resources.
  • Knowledge of the CSU's policies, procedures and Executive Orders, and governing student compliance.
  • Familiarity with Maxient, EAB, PeopleSoft and student tracking systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in Higher Education Administration, Educational Psychology, Management, or a related field .
  • Direct supervisory experience within a classified system, preferably in a collective bargaining environment.
  • General understanding of fundraising and development, and the ability to interact with donors effectively and professionally in order to initiate new and/or maintain/enhance pre-existing relationships.
