About the Position:
University Advancement builds and strengthens relationships with the communities we serve to encourage advocacy, investment and support of the University, its mission, goals and programs to achieve student and alumni success. Strategic Communications and Brand Management plays an integral role in helping to shape and strengthen the institutions brand and advance in a wide range of institutional effectiveness. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Videographer (Media Production Specialist I). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Videographer will be a key brand storyteller who will create video content, and supporting graphics to share the University's student stories, faculty stories, and create content for commercials. Responsible for a broad range of projects, including production projects in video and other multimedia for publishing on multiple platforms. The Videographer reports to the digital media team.

The Videographer collaborates with the creative team and other on-campus entities to develop and execute forward-thinking visual solutions that engage target audiences. The Videographer should have an advanced understanding of visual effects, such as motion graphics and tracking.

Must know new trends in video production in and out of the industry, and incorporate those trends into video content, and keep up-to-date with video styles unique to platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and video streaming.

Must be open to inspiration from others to enhance the team's overall creativity. The Videographer should be comfortable multitasking and meeting tight deadlines, with a meticulous eye on quality control of the final product. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a related field and six months of experience in still and motion picture photography, including a thorough knowledge of video production techniques. Working knowledge of techniques, materials and equipment used in the production of instructional media and related communication assignments. Working knowledge of full range of production techniques including sound recording, graphics, television, photography, video taping, lighting, editing methods and equipment. Ability to set up and operate a wide variety of production equipment, including set-up for multi-camera video productions and distance learning classrooms. Ability to learn techniques in the development of television, film, radio or multimedia productions. Basic computer skills to operate digital and analog production-related editing and duplication equipment. Basic photography skills such as film speed, light, and color requirements. Ability to perform photographic processing including an understanding of photographic chemicals and working knowledge of darkroom and development practices. Ability to use and maintain studio, camera and related equipment. Knowledge of safety requirements including how to handle hazardous chemicals and materials. Solid writing and editing skills, including a strong foundation in English grammar. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain working relationships with staff and students.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of and ability to produce end-to-end video production beginning with discussions and brainstorming with client, and ending with finished video delivered to client in appropriate format. Experience in still photography and editing. Experience using Final Cut Pro X or equivalent system. Knowledge of captioning and accessibility techniques and systems. Experience working in After Effects, animation, graphics and titles. Experience working in Photoshop, graphics, and titles. Experience with video/film storytelling using imagery, music, and motion graphics. Effectively provide direct customer support related to digital video project scoping, development, and production. Thorough knowledge of production techniques and equipment. General knowledge of production principles and practices for new media. Strong research skills and broad knowledge of resources and techniques which communicate information through multimedia video productions. Strong organizational skills to independently manage and coordinate all facets of production, budgets, and other projects.
