GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB



Counsels and advises students and prospective students about financial aid eligibility requirements, procedures, verification, and award process, in accordance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, policies, and procedures.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:

  1. Monitors Direct Loan Entrance and Master Promissory Note (MPN) processes, determines student loan eligibility, and approves/packages direct loans, parent plus loans, and private student loans.
  2. Corrects rejected loan files and reconciles direct loan programs on a monthly basis.
  3. Processes state TAG program, including determining eligibility, awarding, updating awards, certification, reconciliation and notify students with incomplete records.
  4. Assists with Federal, State, and institutional reporting.
  5. Troubleshoots system issues, in collaboration with the College’s IT department.
  6. Develops reporting tools and gathers data to support departmental operations.
  7. Assists students and parents with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Provides support, education, and instruction to students, prospective students, parents, and the general campus community regarding the financial aid process, eligibility, and procedures.
  8. Assists with the maintenance and upkeep of Financial Aid policies and procedures.
  9. Processes student files and prepares award packages in accordance with Federal, State, and Institutional policies.
  10. Manages confidential information in accordance with FERPA.
  11. Conducts on and off campus presentations, workshops, and other forms of outreach.
  12. Trains and supervises staff as needed.
  13. Works in collaboration with external stakeholders to resolve student issues.
  14. Attends divisional/department and other meeting as directed.
  15. Stays current on state and federal financial aid programs by participating in ongoing professional development sessions.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor's Degree;
  • Four years of experience in one area of student services, such as financial aid, admissions, registration, enrollment services, or student records;
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment, with demonstrated multitasking and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; and
  • Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented setting, use discretion, and apply judgment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Knowledge of Colleague (Ellucian) computer system or a similar platform, experience in the use of technology, query software, Microsoft Office Suite, and financial aid databases and tools such as FAA access to CPS, NSLDS, and COD;
  • Experience with Entrinsik Informer; and
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS



The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
  • Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
  • Hearing 1: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.
  • Speaking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.
  • Talking 1: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Visual Acuity 1: Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION



SCHEDULE : Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (occasional evenings and Saturdays). Occasional late-start days: 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
