Position Purpose
Responsible for maintaining fabrication facilities for Sculpture, Architecture, and Printmaking in the Studio Art Department including offering workshops and instructional materials for faculty, interns and students, working fluidly between analog to digital applications while providing essential day and night support in the fabrication studios. Serves as a coordinator and mentor for junior and senior majors, providing technical feedback and tutorials for students and support for fabrication equipment at the HOP woodshop.

Bachelors plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
· Applicant must possess exceptional digital skills as well as strong written and verbal abilities.
· Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and complete projects in a timely manner
· Ability to work with various groups of people: students, interns, faculty, administration.
· Capacity to work independently and as a team
· Ability to track evolving in-house needs as well as evolving software and technology and to be proactive with respect to these matters.
Knowledge and experience with:
- Material and Fabrication: Hand tools and all Category 4 & 5 machines, manual and powered tools. OSHA requirements.
- Preproduction modeling and drawing: Rhinoceros, 3D modeling, 2D modeling, from 3D to 2D, AutoCAD, scales, printing, architectural drawing, Grasshopper, BIM (Revit/ArchiCAD)
- Image Production: Maxwell/VRay rendering, Hidden Lines, Light and Shadows, Viewports, Materials and textures
- Post-Production/Image Manipulation: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Open source image processing
- 2D & 3D Printing/Fabrication: Plotters, CNC laser cutter, milling, hydro, 3D Printing, stereolithography, etc.
- Skills: Projective, Descriptive, Perspective Geometry, Scripting (Processing, Rhinoceros) Digital/Physical Workflow, 2D to 3D Workflow, 3D to 2D Workflow

Description
Classroom Support and Mentoring
·Digital and Analog Support for Student Projects
- Prepare materials for courses for student use. Prepare construction materials for models and prototypes. Conduct fabrication techniques workshops throughout the term. Advise students on digital fabrication techniques to use in their projects.
· Digital and Analog Fabrication Monitoring
– Monitor project output on Laser Cutter and CNC for faculty, students, and interns.
· Instructional Materials and Demonstrations
- Oversee beginning of term set up and end of term clean-up of fabrication facilities, including organizing materials, tools, equipment and procuring and distributing materials for course needs. Assist with development of technical handouts, instructional materials, and demos in both group and one-on-one formats for faculty, students and interns on: (a) digital printmaking methods for SART courses, (b) digital fabrication methods and new software, and © digital fabrication methods and new software for various courses.

Description
Equipment Management and Maintenance
· Management – Maintain fabrication studios mostly in the 2nd floor of the Visual Arts Center ( VAC ). Regularly test all machines and equipment to ensure proper operation and that the software to be used is up to date including plugins. Make improvements and provision as necessary.
· Maintenance – Digital fabrication equipment & software maintenance including the vinyl cutter. Maintain software on architecture Mac and Windows computer platforms. Maintain plotters and printers in the architecture computer lab. Maintain 3D modeling printer and associated computer.
