Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor in the School of Medicine. Position in St. Louis, MO. The successful candidate will undertake scholarly and research responsibilities, including teaching medical students and postdoctoral researchers about the specific metabolic requirements of immune cells as novel promising targets of therapeutic intervention to modulate inflammatory diseases. Provide instruction, training and mentorship of students, trainees, and fellows on metabolic regulation of immune cells activation, including leading or participating in didactic courses and development of novel materials. Additional responsibilities including: formulate original research ideas and devise the techniques and protocols to test the hypothesis(es); conduct hypothesis-driven, fundamental laboratory research; and analyze and interpret the results of the research projects. Prepare and submit papers on research and publish in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and present data at scientific conferences and meetings. Comply with established safety procedures and maintaining required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions, and supervise research technicians. Manage research projects with other institutions and investigators and contribute service to the school. PhD in Biological, Biomedical Sciences or a closely related field required.
