The VCU C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research Informatics Program is seeking a Technical Director that will provide operational management for informatics research program within the Wright Center. The Technical Director will provide overall leadership for the informatics staff and serve as the staff point of contact for the VCUHealth System Enterprise Analytics staff.
Typical Duties
The Technical director will have primary responsibility for staff oversight of the Research Data Warehouse for Research for the Wright Center under the direction of Informatics faculty within the Wright Center. The Technical Director will report to the faculty director of research informatics with a dotted line to the AVP for Clinical Research. Under the direction of senior leadership, the Senior Director for Research Science will exercise independent judgement for complex issues related to secure data access, analysis, and transfer. The Technical Director will oversee Wright Center informatics staff members working on the Enterprise Data Warehouse for Research and staff providing Honest Broker Services to the University and Health System, with more than three full time direct reports.
Typical Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or data science related field
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in data science including work with protected health
information
3. Experience in processing, validation, and storage of healthcare data according to OMOP and
i2B2 data models and the HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) specification.
4. Prior experience supervising informatics staff.
Preferred Hiring Standards
1. Master’s degree in computer science or data science related field
2. Prior experience working with data from EPIC electronic health record
3. Prior experience with cloud solutions for data storage and analyses
Salary Range: $88,100-$138,000/commensurate with experience
