Department Summary
The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. It is the steadfast goal of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide the most outstanding student-athlete experience by helping them to achieve excellence, both in the classroom and in their chosen sport. The department has approximately 250 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.
Position Summary
This role is responsible for leading and executing creative/branding, digital, and social media strategy for Oregon Athletics, including the following: guiding their team in designing and executing creative content to drive and enhance revenue through fan engagement, brand awareness, and communications and advertising strategy, supporting initiatives from and collaborating with athletic marketing, the ticket office, and the Duck Athletic Fund; oversight of all design and initiatives on GoDucks.com; building brand awareness and positive messaging to prospective student-athletes; development and implementation of a strategic social calendar; supervising the director of multimedia integration and a part-time graphic design position; tracking and evaluating social media analytics to form strategies and ensure quality control; forming partnerships with campus communications, IMG Oregon, and the Pac-12 Network. This role will report to the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Communications.

This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, Pac-12 Conference, and the NCAA.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, communications, marketing, or a closely-related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience in professional sports or a collegiate athletic department in creative, communications, or marketing areas.
  • Highly proficient design skills and a demonstrated ability to lead creative teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with creative software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe After Effects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media trends and analytics.
  • Experience with web design, including HTML and CSS.

  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work accurately and to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with and demonstrated ability to create, utilize, and interpret brand standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to create digital and social media campaigns, particularly those focused on driving fan attendance and revenue generation.
