The starting faculty salary range for 2022-23 is $60,192 – $69,072 for a 1.0 FTE, 168-day schedule, Temporary Renewable – Dependent upon continuation of funding. This position will also have 47 additional discretionary days. Continuation of extra days beyond 168 is at the discretion of the college. New faculty will also work an additional 3 days to attend Fall Term Instructional Strategies Institute training. LBCC offers a comprehensive benefit package .

The Mid-Valley STEM - CTE Hub ( MVSCH ) provides leadership, resources, and support to enhance and elevate STEM and CTE opportunities from cradle to career for Linn and Benton Counties. This professional faculty position is an essential member of the MVSCH team and is located in Albany, Oregon. The Makerspace and Lending Librarian is responsible for the Mid-Valley STEM - CTE Hub Lending Library (LL) and the Maker and Innovator Learning Lab ( MILL ), hosted at Linn-Benton Community College, containing a diverse array of STEM - CTE resources and hands-on activities.

The Makerspace and Lending Librarian advances equity in community P-20 STEM - CTE programming via collective action, curating the LL and MILL programs, tools, materials, training, and services to meet the community’s talent development needs. They develop cross-sector partnerships across the two-county region to create responsive programming, elevate community aspiration, foster strategic learning, develop and collect data, and create an ecosystem of support for long-term sustainability of the LL and MILL . Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Requires a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science ( MLS ) which includes STEM / STEAM education background, plus experience working in a public library or experience teaching at both the collegiate and K-12 level, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires knowledge of Evergreen system and cataloging ‘library of things’ materials. Must have knowledge of makerspaces, human-centered design, experiential learning, digital and open pedagogies. Requires experience in a wide variety of craft and making fields, and excellent computer software and web applications skills. Requires strong planning, organizational, and exceptional interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to articulate the organization’s philosophy and position to a wide range of audiences. Must be willing to teach and learn extemporaneously and be skilled at creative problem solving. Must have demonstrated commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Requires knowledge of formal and informal educational needs of adults, young adults, and children along with the knowledge of community interests, trends, and resources and ability to use this information to determine programming needs. Must have knowledge of library procedures and policies and familiarity with ALA’s Core Competencies for Cataloging and Metadata Professional Librarians. Requires knowledge of library and STEM - CTE materials in various formats appropriate for various ages and education levels and the literature and reference materials to support them. Requires knowledge of CAD software, such as: NX, Solidworks, AutoCAD, Inventor Fusion, Rhino, Google Sketch up, Fusion360, 123D Design, Tinkercad. Must have knowledge of or ability to learn safety regulations and procedures, including those related to OSHA . Must have knowledge of or ability to learn laboratory safety practices and standard operating procedures. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives. Preferred Qualifications: Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed in a lab environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is exposed to vibration and occasional loud noise. Considerable time is spent working on the computer. Position requires occasional travel to community events within Linn and Benton Counties with potential for occasional travel elsewhere in Oregon and out-of-state for professional conferences. May occasional work on weekends and evening hours. Essential Duties:
Serve as a resource specialist for the MVSCH community. Manage, maintain, catalog, tag, and curate resources for the LL on Evergreen.

Assess resource needs of the community. Connect community members with resources that meet their needs and respond to information and resource requests. Demonstrate flexibility to change direction/priorities based on community need. Support resource circulation across the region.

Coordinate training, create lesson plans, and provide instruction.

Assist with region-wide maker programming kits, providing training to partners from different entities. Create how-to guidance and work with the MVSCH team to facilitate greater usability of the LL and MILL .

Develop recommendations for improving LL and MILL usability and accessibility.

Develop recommendations for programs that promote the use of the LL and MILL . Use data to make decisions about resources to highlight, curate, and develop best practices.

Conduct ongoing data collection and analysis for continual improvement and contribute to annual reporting.

Oversee the LL and MILL . Provide and schedule instruction and programming, coordinate efforts with other staff and departments. Maintain equipment and software.

Work with the MVSCH Director to oversee programming budgets. Support staff with purchasing and make recommendations for LL and MILL service and equipment improvements.

Assist and instruct patrons on resources with a variety of machinery, including 3D printers, paper cutting machines, analog-to-digital transfer equipment, sewing and embroidery machines, laser cutter, CNC router, 2D/3D CAD, etc. Maintain confidentiality in all patron and staff interactions.

Ability to use and troubleshoot technology of all kinds while helping patrons with/in the LL and MILL .

Serve as an effective team member by providing leadership support through collaborative problem-solving and decision-making. Provide input on policy and procedure as needed.

Provide leadership and oversight to a team of student employees, instructors, and volunteers. Assist the Director of MVSCH with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation. Collaborates with the Director and provides feedback concerning all personnel actions and issues.

Develop and implement safety and proficiency training and tracking for MILL users, volunteers, and employees. Partner with the LBCC safety team to ensure standard processes are followed and documented as required. Consult with Facilities personnel concerning MILL repairs or modifications to maintain specific standards, as needed. Manage Hazard Communications requirements: SDS sheets, proper labeling of hazards, personal protective equipment, and related.

Work with external vendors to schedule repairs or as-needed preventive maintenance, calibrations.
