Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics at The University of Wisconsin is recruiting an exceptional Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist to join our Division of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience in caring for patients with vascular anomalies. Provide clinical care, teaching, and execution of scholarly activities is expected on the CHS track.

The UW Department of Pediatrics is a vibrant academic department comprising over 200 faculty in seventeen subspecialty divisions. The Department promotes and enhances the health of children through outstanding clinical care, exemplary education of pediatric trainees, performance of cutting edge research and vigorous advocacy.

We are located in the Wisconsin Institutes for Medical Research (WIMR) building next to the
University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and are active members of the
Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine Center, the Program for Advanced Cell Therapy and Wisconsin Blood Cancer Research Institute. We participate in numerous research consortia including the COG, PTCTC, PIDTC, MARCH, NEXT, St. Baldrick's/SU2C Pediatric Oncology Dream Team, and the Pediatric Clinical Immunotherapy Trials Network. We encourage translation of laboratory research into clinical trials at the adjacent American Family Children's Hospital, and conduct many novel investigator-initiated, as well as industry-sponsored studies.

Responsibilities:

If hired on the CHS track:
- Provide clinical care to pediatric hematology/oncology and BMT patients.
- Provide oncologic expertise for patients in our growing multidisciplinary vascular anomalies clinic.
- Teach to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care. - Carry out independent research/scholarly activity in an area of interest to the candidate and the division. These pursuits can take many forms and will often be executed in conjunction with clinical activities, but are not limited to that venue.

- Approximately 60-70% time will be spent in the clinical care of pediatric hematology, oncology and BMT patients, with a focus on vascular anomalies. Approximately 20-30% time will be spent pursuing clinical research opportunities and 5-10% time will be spent on teaching activities.
For those appointed to the CHS title track, academic responsibilities will include teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. Academic duties and responsibilities beyond baseline faculty expectations will depend on individual interests and expertise. If hired on the CT track:
- Provide clinical care to pediatric hematology/oncology and BMT patients.
- Provide oncologic expertise for patients in our growing multidisciplinary vascular anomalies clinic.- Teach to a variety of learners, including medical students, residents, and fellows. Teaching can occur within the classroom, small groups and lectures, as well as in the delivery of clinical care. - Approximately 90-95% time will be spent in the clinical care of pediatric hematology, oncology and BMT patients, with a focus on vascular anomalies. Approximately 5-10% time will be spent on teaching activities.

Qualifications:

*Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required.
*Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Hematology Oncology is required.
*Experience in an academic medical setting preferred.

Candidates must possess clinical and academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank at the CHS Track that have been previously established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines. Appointment as Associate Professor or full Professor will require that candidate's credentials meet criteria for rank established by UW School of Medicine and Public Health Guidelines.

License/certification:
*Candidate is required to have or be eligible for a Wisconsin medical licensure.
*Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics is required.
*Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges.
