Job Description

Reporting to the Sr. AVP of Operations, the Director of Operations works in deep partnership with the Sr. AVP of Operations to strategically guide marketing divisional projects and initiatives. The Director is a seasoned professional and serves as an advisor to the SAVP and will work across the University with key VIP’s, stakeholders, and University Leaders. An excellent leader, this individual leads critical Division-wide strategic efforts that are essential to the team¿s success. Serves as a partner to the SAVP in execution of the divisional operations plan. This individual will mobilize teams and resources in order to see projects to fruition. Some of those efforts include: divisional strategic planning/calendar, onboarding and succession planning, Divisional retreats/events and recognition, managing the internship program and student advisory group. Is effective at translating strategic plans into operational efforts. Has great attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in a related discipline and a minimum of 6-8 years of related organizational and strategic management experience.

Job Specific Qualifications

Leadership and operational experience, including translating strategic imperatives into actionable plans. Marketing experience, particularly within the context of serving executive leadership in the areas of marketing. Proven track record of success with progressively responsible leadership responsibilities within Marketing discipline. Exceptional ability to multi-task numerous priorities, all while interacting with stakeholders with a strong positive attitude and disposition. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication, including email. Ability to communicate concisely and succinctly as required, while maintaining professional communication and relationships with all stakeholders. Highly responsive to communications from stakeholders, and ability to translate that communication into the required action in response. Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen, communicate, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders; ability to work creatively with faculty, and staff. Leadership that inspires trust and instills confidence, and demonstrates integrity, accountability, fiscal responsibility, and achievement of goals.

Responsibilities

Key Partner in building and executing the operations plan for the marketing division. Works in partnership with the SAVP of Operations to build out an operations plan, roadmap, calendar for the year, including key projects/initiatives, milestones and metrics. Mobilizes teams/resources and leads initiatives in order to advance the operations plan, manage divisional strategic planning/calendar, and industry awards. Guides and mentors team members in identifying effective components and approaches to operations. Partners with SAVP in leading organizational change efforts designed to achieve strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, and business process improvement goals established by the division.

Serves as divisional lead on department, division and enterprise wide projects as needed. Works with divisional and executive leadership with great authority. Interfaces with VIP’s, University Leaders, students and key stakeholders such as chancellor/board office/film office liaison. Perform highly sensitive and confidential work. Serves as key divisional liaison with external constituencies and organizations with the ability to effectively communicate and execute as needed.

Responsible for the execution of divisional intern, student worker and student advisory group programs. Responsible for translating succession planning strategy into clear operational plans. Refines and leads new employee onboarding to ensure new team members have a comprehensive and solid start within the Division. Responsible for the planning of monthly divisional All Hands meetings, division wide retreats, professional development and training sessions. Includes creating goals, managing logistical planning, setting operational milestones and creating metrics to measure success. Ensures resources are in place to partner with other units across the university.

Member of Marketing Leadership Team. Provides counsel to SAVP and CMO, collaborates on building a best-in-class marketing operation. Stays up- to-date on industry trends. Mentors team and provides University-wide education on marketing best practices.
