Job Description:

Dean College's Communications Program is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Digital Video Production I on campus during the Fall 2022 semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.

We are seeking an adjunct instructor for COM 123: Digital Video Production I. COM 123 is a 3-credit course. The adjunct pay rate is $3,300/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach. The Communications program provides a course charter with course objectives as well as sample syllabi. All faculty are expected to make active use of the learning management system (Canvas) at least at a minimum level established by the College.

The course description is as follows: This course is designed to engage students with learning the principles of video production and working as a member of a production team while becoming immersed in the process of producing and directing video productions. Students will be given the opportunity to conceptualize, develop, script, produce and direct their own productions in a group atmosphere. All students will be given the opportunity to participate as on-camera talent or cast on-camera talent for their projects. This will primarily be a practical hands-on course; however, the weekly required reading and class discussions will help form the theoretical basis needed to begin the process of creating meaningful and engaging productions.

There is one course section available. It is scheduled to meet either on Tuesday/Thursday from 8:00 am to 9:15 am or Tuesday/Thursday from 9:30 am to 10:45 am.

Requirements:

• A Master's degree in Communications, Mass Communication, Media, or related discipline area is required.
• Knowledge of digital video production, with a minimum of three years teaching experience, preferred. 
• PhD in a related discipline, preferred.
• COVID-19 Vaccination and Booster required.
• Experience teaching at the college level both in person and online, required.
• Experience teaching first year undergraduates, preferred.
• Strong computer skills, required.
• Ability and willingness to be responsive and supportive to students through college online resources and digital tools, required.
• Experience with or willingness to learn Canvas, our learning management system, and classroom media, required.
• Expertise in learner-centered teaching, required.
• Experience using technologies and/or strategies to enhance pedagogy, required.
• Experience and ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student body with a variety of learning styles, required.
