Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full-time Exempt Director of the Faculty Center

Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for the Director of Faculty Center. This visionary leader reports to the Provost & Dean of the Faculty and works collaboratively to support faculty in developing as outstanding teachers, scholars, and citizens. The director is responsible for introducing faculty to innovative approaches to teaching and learning; dispensing grants to support new pedagogical and curricular directions; and collaborating with colleagues across the college to support the mission and strategic plan.

 Essential Functions:

• Monitor national higher education trends and then advocate for and lead campus change to both support faculty in their multiple roles and keep the institution competitive;
• Research, design, deliver, assess, and follow-up on in-person and on-line workshops and programs for faculty learning about teaching and curriculum;
• Facilitate faculty connections to the Office of Sponsored Research in support of external grant application development and submission;
• Research, design, deliver, assess, and follow-up on in-person programs to support faculty as scholars, in partnership with the Office of Sponsored Research;
• Support other institutional initiatives through collaboration with peers in the library, international programs, the Educational Policy Committee, Director of Faculty Diversity, etc;
• Meet with faculty one-on-one for mentoring, problem-solving, idea generation, review of materials, diversity and equity concerns;
• Support faculty as they develop leadership skills through workshops, learning communities, one-on-one consultations;
• Contribute to assessment efforts on campus through committee participation, individual consultation, and providing grants.

Requirements:

• Master's or PhD, with specialization in learning science, higher education, or faculty development preferred
• Experience in the field of faculty development
• Theoretical knowledge and demonstrated experience in practical application of higher education teaching and learning research including DEI pedagogies, active learning, course design, curriculum design, and early-career faculty development
• Experience with grant-seeking and sponsored research
• The ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.
