The Director participates with and as guided by the Executive Director, the development of financial aid leveraging strategies to support and achieve the University’s strategic enrollment plan for its undergraduate and graduate programs.

The Department provides professional and personalized customer service to prospective and current students, parents and guardians and the Director maintains an efficient department that manages federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs in compliance with University policies and applicable federal and state regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages and assists the Financial Aid Counselors as they inform current and prospective undergraduate/graduate students, parents, guardians regarding financial aid programs and their eligibility.
  • Oversees and reviews (for accuracy) financial aid applications for undergraduate/graduate students and the determination of financial aid awards.
  • Oversees the management of the federal and private student loan programs.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, is responsible for maintaining compliance with the U.S. Department of Education Title IV aid and other similar state programs.
  • Oversees the administration of the financial literacy and the default management program;
  • Manages and assists the staff in administering the Financial Aid Refund Policy and the return of Title IV funds (R2T4) for students.
  • Hires, supervises, trains and evaluates staff and makes personnel recommendations to the Executive Director.
  • Manages the student financial aid information system (Ellucian Colleague Financial Aid SaaS modules) and other technology and systems (Slate, Othot, FrontRush, etc.) are used efficiently and effectively.
  • Chairs and co-chairs meetings and presentations with the financial aid staff and other department staff to educate students, parents, and the campus community on financial aid policies, regulations and compliance matters.
  • In consultation with the Executive Director, establishes and maintains policies and manuals related to the administration of financial aid government programs and compliance there with.
  • Actively initiates and participates with the Executive Director in the continuous improvement of the Financial Aid Office operations and processes including the One Stop Student Service Center.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director, Admissions Office staff, and consultants to develop the financial aid packaging policy and achieve enrollment goals designed to maximize net tuition revenue.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions and other like positions to provide financial aid information to assist in the recruitment of students.
  • Collaborates with the Business Office to resolve financial aid/billing problems.
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director to ensure the University is in compliance with NCAA regulations as it relates to student financial aid.
  • Manages and administers the completion of a variety of annual surveys such as IPEDS, Common Data Set, NACUBO, U.S. News and World Report, Wintergreen and AICUO.
  • Manages and administers the annual financial aid audit and compliance review.
  • Manages and completes the annual FISAP report.
  • Maintains the net price calculator.
  • Collaborates with other University departments including but not limited to Athletics, the Business Office, Admissions, Registrar, and Information Technology Departments.

EDUCATION:

Required

  • Bachelor of Science or Arts from and accredited college or university

EXPERIENCE:

Required

  • 5 – 7 years experience in student financial aid
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite software
  • Thorough knowledge of student financial aid federal and state rules and regulations
  • Knowledge or ability to learn applicable rules and regulations for administering student financial aid for a NCAA Division II athletic programs
