Anesthesiology
Job Description
The Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a Physician Assistant or a Nurse Practitioner to work in the Pre-Op Clinics which evaluates patients scheduled for surgery. Duties are performed under the oversight of Anesthesiology faculty and include:
1) Providing pre-procedural evaluation of physical and medical condition of patient. This includes completing a thorough history and physical of patient.
2) Performing review of medical records, patient documentation, and referral information
3) Collecting required specimens, ordering required diagnostic tests as indicated, reviewing the results of ordered tests, and documenting in patient's chart.
4) Providing pre-anesthesia teaching to the patient and family.
5) Reviewing and obtaining the necessary patient consents.
6) Verifying Anesthesia orders and ensuring proper documentation is compiled.
7) Communicating and interacting with patients/caregivers/family members to answer questions and provide information regarding post-procedural care.
Responsibilities of Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will be collaboratively managed through the physicians in the Department of Anesthesiology and coordinated through the Surgical Services Manager at MU facilities.
Salary
Salary Range: $76,232 - $124,226 Annually
Grade: PAT - 011

Minimum Qualifications
Physician Assistant:
Graduation from an AMA accredited physician assistant program, including national certification, as a physician assistant by the NCCPA is preferred.
Possession of a current Missouri license to practice as a licensed Physician Assistant is required.
Nurse Practitioner:
College Diploma, Nursing. Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days. Preparation as a nurse practitioner in either a Master's program or a certificate program. Must be granted a “Document of Recognition” from the Missouri Board of Nursing.
