Position Summary

The Arts Management Program at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, seeks a senior (Professor or Associate Professor)faculty member working in the fields of social justice/equity and arts management who will serve at least two three-year terms as Director of the Program. Arts Management at UB is an international, interdisciplinary, and diverse MA program.

We are seeking candidates who demonstrate commitment to engagement with the continuously changing relationships between art works and their audiences in the increasingly complex cultural, socioeconomic, and political systems that challenge sustainable arts environments; any academic field may provide the foundation for such commitment. Arts Management at UB is also committed to increasing the diversity of the arts management field at every level of engagement. This is a changing moment for the field of arts management and the UB Program. We seek a faculty member with collaborative leadership skills, who can help shape and promote our program’s vision through mutually creative interaction with faculty, students, art-makers and performers, community organizations, and other units within the university. The position will begin Fall semester 2023.

Candidates should hold a PhD or terminal degree in their field, have experience teaching within the U.S. university system, have some managerial experience at an arts organization, and a publication record or equivalent accomplishment appropriate to rank. Ideally, candidates will also have some administrative experience. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications of the candidate and competitive for a tenured faculty member at a public research university.

The University at Buffalo is committed to developing a diverse faculty, staff, and student body and to modeling an inclusive campus community that values the expression of differences to promote excellence in teaching, learning, and personal and professional development. We encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds.
